Like every year when it gets colder in Middle Europe I back out in my Studio to prepare the 4th issue of my BOYS FROM THE WOOD exhibition. For all of you who might not know what this is: Since a couple of years around Christmas time I do an exhibition in the region I was growing up. It´s all about incense smokers, nutcrackers, light arches and a lot of funky stuff straight outta Erzgebirge aka the Ore Mountains. After last year’s 5Minutes feature on ARTE Creative those little wooden guys are quite famous around Christmas time. I even personalize them into ordinary guys like you and me or into famous characters like DJs, Basketball players, Rappers or movie characters. This time is also a good chance to take a short break from all this graff business.
So last weekend we had the big opening of this show called BOYS FROM THE WOOD & FRIENDS. “Friends” means that during the last years it became more and more some kind of a movement. I started to invite my friends who do things like producing their own skis and snowboards, designing their own fashion or producing their own egg liquor to be part of it and show their products. Small brands with a big potential. You can find a list with a few links below.
So we had two and a half days full of exhibition, art, action and fun and it seems that lots of people love this idea. We had full house at the opening night and after a couple of drinks and lots of speaking we went to that legendary Afterparty in a club called WELTECHO with great DJs and even more drinks to burn down this house. So you can imagine that the day after you really feel that you`re not 18 anymore. But nothing beats a good breakfast in a good hotel. So I just wanna say THANK YOU to PENTAHOTELS and CHEMNITZER HOF for hosting us.
After 3 days of exhibition it was already time to leave and I`m really looking forward to BOYS FROM THE WOOD 2018 right now. You better don`t miss!
One more thing:
During these 3 days we did kind of a tombola in favor of AKTION KINDERHERZEN who support kids and families in need in the ore mountains. The winner will be chosen next sunday and can win a huge package of things from all the guys who were part of the show. So we collected more than 1.600,-€ for this kids project. I`m f**kin proud of all the guys who helped us with their donation.
