Last weekend I had the chance to paint a wall with my crewmate BEAT in Lörrach/Germany. After buffing the wall one day before (it`s wintertime and the buffpaint doesn`t dry really fast) we were quite surprised, cause somebody used the spot in front of our wall as his camp ground. Well – not everybody is living in such a luxury world like us with a warm home, a full fridge or gas tank. There are more people living outside our society than we might think – especially in one of the richest parts of Germany – people who really do struggle. So our goal should be to help with simple things instead of chasing them away. We decided to offer this guy a coffee and a croissant before asking him friendly if it would be possible to move his tent. While he had his breakfast, we started to chat and found out a little more about this stranger, his life and his world. But this is going to stay between him and us. We are keeping our fingers crossed for our new homie and for a better future for him.
Oh and by the end we had also painted a fresh wall, had some buddy time and a pretty amazing day ended with the question of a woman passing by: “Is somebody painting a real picture over this?” Well. Maybe someday.
