For the most of you who have something to do with the graffiti business there`s one name you definitely heard about: OMSK167. In almost every European capital his name was rolling at least one time and after a short break he`s back…with lots of fresh productions. Especially his video series LINES is well worth seeing.
Please introduce yourself in a few words.
Omsk167, Teil der CSF Crew und im Team BSX
1. Maybe some words about us: When and how did you noticed Hombre & Boogie for the first time?
That guy Boogie originally comes from my region. So I know him since ages. I saw Hombre for the first time long time ago in Mannheim/Germany, while I was painting there. I follow his progress really interested the following years. Meanwhile I think that he is playing a leading role in working illustrative and figurative with a spraycan. Especially in Germany you can watch how he is inspiring other graffiti artists. I likethe way if an artist develops his own unique feature that after a while you can see his own way of style. Nowadays you can`t find that so often.
2. How important is your profession in your private life? Are there also some negative aspects?
Graffiti plays one of the main roles in my life – doesn`t matter if job or private life. Thats boon and bane at the same time – but I don`t want to talk more about this.
A bit more distance to that graffiti thing far away from walls and trains would be really advisible to some guys out there – also to me. If you overstate it and you live that graffiti thing too hard it can control and change your life … not always in the best way. Beside the creative and and communicative aspect the exciting thing on graffiti is the still existing competition, the game which we all want to play – sometimes less and sometimes more. There can be more and more pressure and if you are not clever enough you can make real bad mistakes. But it depends on the single person.
3. Do you have Idols?
I never had real idols. For sure there are some guy you`re looking up to. To look back into the last years RAZOR was one of those guys who impressed me a lot. That consequence and power during the years and that great artworks on trains in the 90s and especially the 2000s. Until today I celebrate BIG RAZOR. But there are also some others I often think about – maybe not as real idols. Cause the word IDOL has a really strong meaning and its more than some trains and nice styles. I don`t really like that cult of personality – least of all in graffiti or streetart.
4. Which gift do you wish to have?
Figurative drawing. A spraycan here or a skull there is ok – but not more. I was growing up with fast graffiti. Lots of silver, less color and less time. I spent a long time in this world of quantity and started really late to use a bit more colors here and there, cut a little bit or do more than some bubbles in the background. You still can see it in my pieces of today. I`m really focussed on letters and I don`t care so much about the rest.
5. Your best travel destination till now?
For sure Russia. I love it to be there. Doesn`t matter if Moscow, St.Petersburg or Omsk. 😉
6. Backpacker or 5 stars?
I`m fine with both. But we all getting older and so here and there a star is not that bad.
7. Rock, Rap oder Elektro?
I find myself anywhere between Electronic Music and Hip Hop. But also the Soul, Funk and Jazz from back in the days is always fresh. Nothing beats an good old Nina Simone album … if you have some peace and quiet.
8. Low Carb or Candy Madness?
I think it`s low carb.
9. Soccer or Wrestling?
Soccer! #sge #lfc (SG Eintracht Frankfurt, Liverpool FC)
10. Your 5 daily essentials?
Smartphone, Mac, Cigarettes, Coffee, Sketchbook
11. Favourite movie?
Back to the Future. I think I saw this movie around 1000 times.
12. 5 Alltime favorite songs?
Too much to numerate all of them.
13. What are your wishes for the future – private and global?
Would you have asked me that question 20 years ago it would be really interesting to see how the reality is now. It`s often different than you think. Thatswhy it doesn`t make much sense to plan the things really straight. In my life lots of things happen in the freestyle mode and this is what I`m trying to keep as long as possible. Of yours I have some plans for the near and further future. Where do you want to stay for the rest of your life? But also priorities around graffiti. I had to make a little break the last years cause there were some problems. Now I know how it feels like when you fading out graffiti of your life as much as you can. Fo For some it`s a done deal at this point. For myself I felt that I can not live without it – especially at that point of my life. I you`ve done it for such a long time and you are still excited about painting a wall out there maybe it`s more than just a hobby. So I think the future 2016+ will have a lot in store. Especially with graffiti I have a lot of plans in the upcoming months.
